Y THIS SILENCE

hi all,
Its been quite some time since i felt like writing, cause the passion and love I had for this game slipped in to a coma on the 26th of October 2008, at the scenic Infosis grounds Mysore on being operated upon (lobotomy) by the eminent English and Australian bred surgeon Kerala cricket association authorities had brought over to revive cricket in this beautiful state.

He convinced me that my passion and enthusiasm for this game was misplaced and that i can never ever aspire to coach as I have not, in his words "played at the highest level". so here I am wondering why I have wasted such a large amount of my time . and what hurts most was that there was no one to put in a word for me.

"wasted, wasted"
I have wasted a decade in this futile pursuit in this state where there is ,
no honor for being true to your profession,
no compassion for the honest trier
no virtue in being honest and truthful
no one to support
and all to point fingers
"wasted wasted ! a decade wasted

hei, what is happening out there? you being a person immensely talented with logical thinking, passion for the game and commitment to work hard - giving at most priority to your profession, fretting like...who can stop us from sharing our knowledge with those who need it? who can prevent us from being satisfied when our efforts enable a few players to play at competitive levels, who can stop our players from playing quality cricket.

why do we think that being a coach of the Ranji or National/Zonal teams is the only peak that we need to aspire for?

if our satisfaction does not come from our love for cricket and being involved in the game and enabling young players to improve and be highly competitive, then we are going to be in a soup.

gone are the days when 'waste' was seen as an unwanted word. there is lot of energy in waste, it comes with an alternative vision of life, an alternative vision of cricketing activity.

why do you think Kapil took to ICL? was it not similar regrests that players are not given their rightful recognition and dignity. see how Kapil responded to it. that may not be the only way, there are many ways like that for lesser souls.

see achrekar, who coached sachin.

a coach is as good as the players who come to him. going heigher are lower may not give satisfaction, but getting quality persons as students surely gives satisfaction.

hope i have not totally misunderstood what you jotted down

Stupidity has its sweet limits. Who is this surgeon you are referring to; whoever he is, he's done a mistake because unlike many other games Cricket is one with many specialties and most of the modern schools recognize this. Just like batting, bowling, fielding and wicket keeping; which are on-field skills, there are skills like Umpiring, Scoring, curatory and even administration as off-field skill sets. Among the latter, nothing is as important as coaching which requires elements of every other skill in a reasonably more amount than required by an average player; even those who has played in the so called highest level.

Above all one need to have very good teaching skills coupled with good management and interpersonal skills along with a moral, ethical and optimistic approach towards life to be recognized as a good coach. If only one possess all these, players and their parents would stick to a coach – In modern day Professional Cricket, Parents play a very important role.

I feel that the best yardstick to measure a coach is the results he has produced. Being a Coach who has been in the arena for close to 2 decades itself is an ample proof of ones stature in the Cricketing fraternity. Furthermore, one who has played in the highest level does it so only by himself, but a coach does so many times and even simultaneously in the same game by virtue of the presence of the players he has mentored. So if one has produced. Enough number of good players who has played in the perceived highest level, he is better ranked than anyone who has actually played there.

Hope I made my point clear.
